A Lunar New Year Design Rooted in Place, Meaning and Memory

Lunar New Year marks a moment of transition — a time to look ahead with optimism, renew connections, and step forward with intention. In 2026, the Year of the Horse brings with it themes of progress, vitality, and forward movement, setting the tone for a year shaped by momentum and possibility.

Inspired by our iconic façade, this year’s red packet design reimagines our distinctive balcony patterns as a rhythmic geometric motif. Every balcony reflects a defining hallmark of Fairmont Singapore and Swissôtel The Stamford: all rooms and suites feature private balconies that open to expansive views of the city. These balconies represent openness and perspective — spaces where guests pause, reflect, and prepare for what lies ahead.

The repeating balcony motif symbolises stability and unity, while its rhythmic flow echoes the energy of the Horse — steady, purposeful, and always moving forward. It reflects the balance between grounding and progress, a meaningful expression for the year to come.

At the heart of the design, selected balcony outlines are highlighted in gold to form the Chinese character 吉 (jí), representing good fortune, auspicious beginnings, and heartfelt blessings. Thoughtfully woven into the pattern, the character reveals itself gradually, mirroring how new opportunities unfold with time and intention.

The softly glowing windows bring warmth to the design, evoking homes lit for reunion and welcome during the festive season. They reflect the hospitality at the core of our hotels: a constant presence, even as we move into a new year.

As we welcome Lunar New Year 2026, this red packet design becomes a reflection of shared journeys, meaningful connections, and the forward-looking spirit of the Year of the Horse; grounded in place, enriched by memory, and carried forward with confidence.
