Fairmont Singapore has demonstrated that sustainability is not a standalone initiative, but a deeply embedded philosophy that shapes the way we operate, engage, innovate, and lead. In 2025, beyond successfully achieving all 22 sustainability KPIs including our Global Sustainability Tourism Council (GSTC) certification, we distinguished ourselves through meaningful action, measurable impact, and a people-first approach that redefined responsible luxury hospitality in Singapore.

At the heart of Fairmont Singapore’s sustainability journey is our commitment to creating visible, lasting change. The launch of the Fairmont Green Wall transformed the hotel entrance into a living symbol of urban biodiversity and climate-conscious design, reinforcing the property’s dedication to greener city spaces while enhancing the guest experience through nature-led hospitality.

Complementing this is Fairmont Singapore’s aquaponics farm, which has evolved beyond an operational sustainability initiative into a recognised platform for education, collaboration, and industry leadership. In 2025 alone, the farm welcomed over 570 visitors, including global hospitality leaders, government agencies, international universities, corporate clients, tourism partners, and students, positioning Fairmont Singapore as a benchmark for sustainable hospitality innovation in the region.

Equally important is our strong commitment to social impact and community engagement. Through over 10 CSR initiatives across the year, Fairmont Singapore supported vulnerable communities, championed inclusivity, partnered with local artists and charities, and mobilised colleagues around meaningful causes. From fundraising collaborations with Ambulance Wish Singapore to food distribution efforts, autism awareness initiatives, and donation drives supporting women in need, we consistently demonstrated that sustainability must create positive outcomes for both people and planet.

Fairmont Singapore strengthened our long-term partnership with Ambulance Wish Singapore through four impactful fundraising initiatives in 2025 that combined hospitality, community, and local creativity; raising close to SGD200,000. We supported the sale of teddy bears across our restaurants, organised the “Wish Upon a Christmas” festive fundraiser featuring a light-up event, donation drive, and teddy bear sales, and collaborated with local illustrator Chris Chew on a specially designed Mid-Autumn Festival mooncake box campaign, with printing sponsored by Prestige Solutions and sales managed via our platform. In addition, renowned mural artist Yip Yew Chong donated a live painting for charity auction. Together, these initiatives successfully rallied guests, colleagues, artists, and partners to raise significant funds and awareness for Ambulance Wish Singapore.

These efforts were driven not only by leadership, but by collective colleague participation across departments and generations. Sustainability became part of the hotel culture, visible in initiatives such as the Green Wall unveiling, where new hires and long-serving colleagues came together to contribute to the final installation, symbolising continuity, shared purpose, and community.

The impact of Fairmont Singapore’s work was recognised through seven major sustainability and community awards in 2025, including the Winsemius Community Impact Award (watch submission video here) and the prestigious Champion of Good recognition, one of Singapore’s highest honours for corporate purpose and societal impact. This distinction is particularly significant within the hospitality industry and reflects the hotel’s ability to create sustained value beyond commercial performance and is a recognition of how we engage and activate our network, including our landlord, to join us in doing good.

Fairmont Singapore stand as a proud example of how a luxury hotel can lead with purpose, inspire industry change, engage its community meaningfully, and deliver sustainability with authenticity, innovation, and measurable impact.
